Our Attic Services
Metal buildings without insulation face real, measurable problems — excessive heat in summer, cold in winter, and condensation that can damage equipment, inventory, and building materials. At Insulation Systems of Oklahoma INC, we provide metal building insulation to homeowners and business owners in Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas who want to protect their structures and control energy costs.
Proper insulation in a metal building regulates interior temperature, controls moisture, and reduces energy consumption year-round. We work with a range of insulation systems — from standard fiberglass blankets with vapor barriers to high-R multi-layer systems — to match each building’s specific needs and local energy code requirements.
This page covers what metal building insulation involves, where it applies, the risks of leaving a metal structure uninsulated, how we work, and what sets us apart. Whether you own a residential shop, a commercial warehouse, or any metal structure in between, the information here will help you make an informed decision.
Why Hire a Pro
Metal buildings without insulation face serious temperature swings, condensation buildup, and high energy costs — problems we solve for homeowners and businesses across Oklahoma City with insulation systems built specifically for metal structures.
Metal buildings in Oklahoma City quickly gain heat in summer and lose it in winter due to high conductivity, making them costly and uncomfortable to maintain. Metal building insulation improves thermal control, prevents condensation, and reduces noise. Common options include spray foam for sealing, fiberglass blankets for new builds, and rigid boards for added R-value in retrofits.
Many homeowners in Oklahoma City use metal buildings as garages, workshops, or accessory spaces that often lack proper insulation. We insulate roofs, walls, floors, and doors to reduce heat transfer and air leaks. Proper insulation makes these spaces more comfortable and energy-efficient year-round with lower heating and cooling costs.
Commercial metal buildings in Oklahoma City require higher-performance insulation due to their size and constant use. We insulate warehouses, manufacturing facilities, retail spaces, and agricultural buildings using spray foam, fiberglass systems, and hybrid solutions. Our focus is on meeting energy codes, controlling moisture with vapor barriers, ensuring safe installation, and minimizing disruption. Layered insulation systems are often used to create a complete thermal and air seal.
Benefits
Properly insulated metal buildings in Oklahoma City stay more energy-efficient, cost less to operate, and are significantly more comfortable year-round compared to uninsulated structures.
Metal buildings transfer heat quickly, forcing HVAC systems to work harder without insulation. Proper insulation creates a thermal barrier that reduces heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter. In Oklahoma, recommended R-values are typically R-19 to R-38 for roofs, R-13 to R-19 for walls, and R-10 to R-15 for floors.
Proper insulation reduces thermal transfer in metal buildings, lowering heating and cooling costs and easing HVAC strain. It also helps prevent condensation-related damage like rust and corrosion, extends equipment lifespan, and may qualify for energy-efficiency incentives.
Uninsulated metal buildings in Oklahoma City experience extreme temperature swings, making them uncomfortable and inefficient. Insulation helps stabilize indoor temperatures, reduce hot and cold spots, and protect inventory, equipment, and materials from damage caused by heat and humidity changes.
Uninsulated metal buildings amplify exterior noise from rain, wind, and traffic, creating disruptive environments. Insulation helps absorb sound and reduce noise transfer, resulting in a quieter, more comfortable interior that improves communication and working conditions.
Problems We Solve
Skipping insulation in a metal building leads to higher energy costs, moisture damage, and a shorter lifespan for the structure itself.
Metal conducts heat and cold quickly, causing uninsulated buildings in Oklahoma to lose conditioned air in winter and gain heat in summer. This forces HVAC systems to work harder, leading to higher energy bills that can add up significantly over time compared to the cost of proper insulation.
When warm, humid air meets cold metal surfaces, condensation forms—an ongoing issue in Oklahoma’s climate. This moisture can cause rust, mold growth, equipment damage, and electrical issues. Over time, even small amounts of condensation can lead to hidden damage that becomes costly to repair.
Uninsulated metal buildings expand and contract with temperature changes, putting stress on seams, fasteners, and panels. Combined with moisture from condensation, this leads to rust, corrosion, and reduced structural lifespan. Proper insulation helps protect structural integrity, improve safety, and extend the building’s overall durability.

Why Choose Us
We are a veteran-owned company based in Oklahoma City with direct experience in Oklahoma’s climate demands, and we take a whole-system approach to metal building insulation rather than pushing a single product.
Oklahoma’s extreme heat, cold, and humidity create ongoing insulation challenges for metal buildings. We specialize in diagnosing and solving these issues across warehouses, agricultural buildings, workshops, and commercial facilities in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. As a veteran-owned company, we operate with precision, accountability, and a focus on doing the job right the first time.
We don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. Each metal building is evaluated based on its use, structure, moisture exposure, and energy goals. We then recommend the right solution—whether spray foam, a hybrid system, or targeted insulation—to fit the specific needs of your building.
We use high-performance materials, including 2.7 lb closed-cell spray foam from General Coatings, designed for strong moisture resistance and durability. Just as important as the material is proper installation. Our team ensures full coverage, minimizes thermal bridging, and treats each building as a complete system. We stand behind our work throughout Oklahoma City and surrounding areas, building our reputation on quality results.
How It Works
Every project starts with a thorough assessment of your building, followed by a tailored insulation plan and efficient installation carried out by our experienced team.
We begin every metal building project with an on-site inspection to understand its specific conditions. We assess existing insulation, moisture and condensation issues, thermal bridging, and how the building is used. We also review walls, roof panels, doors, and windows to evaluate overall energy performance before recommending a solution.
After the assessment, we create a custom insulation plan based on your building’s needs. We recommend the right system—such as fiberglass, spray foam, or vapor barrier solutions—and clearly explain the benefits, costs, and performance of each option so you can make an informed decision before work begins.
Once you approve the plan, our crew completes the installation with minimal disruption to your schedule. We follow metal building best practices, including proper vapor barrier placement, sealed penetrations, and consistent coverage. The job is only finished once we confirm the insulation meets the expected performance standards.
Service Area
We provide professional crawlspace insulation services throughout the Oklahoma City metro area and beyond. If you don’t see your city listed, call us — we likely serve your area.
FAQ
Metal building insulation costs, material choices, condensation control, and R-value requirements are common concerns for property owners in Oklahoma City and the surrounding region.
A 40×60 metal building covers 2,400 square feet of floor space, but total insulation coverage includes the walls and roof, which adds significantly more surface area. Material type, thickness, and R-value all affect the final price.
Fiberglass batt systems for a structure this size typically range from $3,000 to $8,000 installed, while spray foam can run $8,000 to $15,000 or more depending on application depth. We can assess your building and provide an accurate quote based on your specific conditions.
Condensation forms when warm, moist air contacts cold metal surfaces. Without proper insulation and a vapor retarder, this moisture accumulates on the interior of panels and leads to rust and structural degradation over time.
We install insulation systems with appropriate vapor retarder facings that limit moisture movement through the building envelope. Maintaining a continuous thermal barrier without gaps is critical to keeping metal panels dry year-round.
A straightforward fiberglass batt installation on a 40×60 building can often be completed in one to two days. Spray foam applications and larger or more complex structures may take three to five days or longer.
Factors like the number of penetrations, existing framing conditions, and accessibility to wall and roof cavities all affect the timeline. We give realistic schedule estimates before work begins.
Both options work for metal buildings, but they serve different needs. Spray foam creates an air barrier and adheres directly to metal panels, which makes it effective at stopping air infiltration and condensation. Fiberglass batt insulation with a vapor-retarder facing is a lower-cost option that still delivers solid thermal performance.
For occupied commercial buildings or conditioned spaces in Oklahoma, spray foam often performs better long-term. For storage or agricultural buildings, fiberglass batt systems are frequently sufficient.
Oklahoma experiences both hot summers and cold winters, so thermal performance in both directions matters. For metal building roofs in this climate zone, R-19 to R-30 is a common range, with walls typically requiring R-13 to R-19.
The right R-value depends on whether the space is occupied, heated, cooled, or used only for storage. We help determine the appropriate specification based on your building’s actual use and energy goals.
Yes, adding insulation to a previously uninsulated or poorly insulated metal building changes the thermal load significantly. A properly insulated building retains conditioned air more effectively, which means your HVAC system does not have to work as hard to maintain temperature.
In some cases, this allows for a smaller HVAC unit than what would otherwise be required. Lower monthly energy costs are a direct result of reduced heat gain in summer and reduced heat loss in winter, both of which are significant in Oklahoma’s climate.
